Today has all the ear marks of being a great. Outside of the pending rain, San Antonio sees the grand opening of Roadmap Brewing Co., headed up by Texas transplant Dustin Baker, along with his wife and father. Baker, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, took to San Antonio after several visits with his wife to visit his sister.
Like many, Baker caught the brewing bug after a homebrew kit was gifted to him and once in the Alamo City, felt the urge to open his own brewery. Baker saw a bustling, but still largely untapped market in the Alamo City, and after months of looking for a location, he took possession of the keys to his location at North Alamo and 8th Street. Baker came upon his brewery’s name after talking with his architect and wishing there was a roadmap to opening a brewery.
Roadmap emyploys a seven-barrel system from Alpha Brewing Operations and plans to keep 95 percent of their brews on site, with the other five percent distributed within only a few blocks of the brewery. Roadmap will feature nine beer taps and a cider, as well as offering plenty of space for an indoor beer garden with games like corn hole. Look for year around offerings to include a kölsch, pale ale, saison, and porter.
Grand opening festivities will commence at noon and run until midnight, with food trucks Box Street Social and The Lone Star Food Truck providing munchies from noon to 6:00pm and 4:00 -6:00pm respectively. Though flights of beers will normally be offered, only full and half pints will be offered at the grand opening in an effort to keep the lines short and the beer flowing. Street parking will be available, as well as two lots located at 8th and North Alamo, and 8th and Broadway.
